Caring for Your Indian Remy Hair Weaves and Wigs
If you have Remy hair extensions or wigs you have undoubtedly made a good investment…..in short, you have the very best hair. It is not cheap and so you have to care for it so that it lasts as long as possible….over a year, more if you care for them properly. In this article we will discuss how you go about caring for your Remy hair.
It is Not Getting Essential Oils from your Scalp
Do remember that it is real hair that was previously on someone’s head but it is not attached to your scalp. This therefore means that the air is not getting the natural oils from your scalp and so you will need to keep take some thins into consideration when washing the hair to prevent it from drying out. You should endeavour to wash your hair once every week.
Washing the Hair
To wash your Remy hair and wigs you will need
- a soft brush
- a wide tooth comb and
- moisturizing shampoo and conditioner that has a low pH balance. These shampoos and conditioners have a pH level of 3.5 to 4.5 and are gentle and will not strip your hair plus they are rich in moisture
You should first comb the hair to get rid of knots and tangles. Comb from the end up to the roots. When it is tangle free you should wet the hair then apply conditioner. When this is don the hair will retain the moisture.
Next you will apply the shampoo without rinsing the conditioner from the hair and wash gently….do not rub the hair….you are basically swishing water through it!
Rinse the hair and apply the conditioner again. At this point you could allow the conditioner to stay on the hair for approximately 3 minutes before you rinse. This will add more moisture to the hair.
Rinse the conditioner from the hair then put the hair or wig on a towel and gently pat it to get rid of all the excess water.
Allow the hair to dry naturally as heat will damage it. Under no circumstances should you wring or rub the hair through the entire process.
When the hair is dry you can apply a small amount of your favourite hair dress and style as desired.
Have a great day weaving and wigging it!
